In 2011 Michael’s career was propelled into the spotlight, through entering into Channel Ten’s, MasterChef. Through hard work and some serious enthusiasm Michael made it to the final 2 of the competition and was narrowly beaten in the final. This did nothing to deter Michael and it in fact inspired him to go on to greater things in the kitchen.
After finishing MasterChef Michael has been working with Coles Supermarkets on many different events and projects. From running cooking educational sessions at schools, cooking at corporate events, recipe creation or working with the Coles team during their training and food education.
In October 2011 he moved to Melbourne to work for MasterChef judge Gary Mehigan at Fenix Restaurant. This was a culinary scholarship he received as a prize for finishing second. After a furious 3 months of blood, sweat and tears in Melbourne he headed back home to Adelaide.
Since his return to Adelaide Michael has worked on many projects including opening a Burger Chain, commencing a catering business, and contributing recipes to many local and national food companies.
Michael currently works with the Little Miss Group in Adelaide writing the menus and overseeing the food at both their venues; the Dive Shop and Crabshack. He also works with the Royal Croquet Club festival to coordinate food and manage some of his own food stalls at the events.
He has recently launched his own company Wel-Done Food Pty Ltd, where Michael offers a wide range of food consultation. The next step for Michael looks like his own restaurant and it hopefully won’t be too far away!
You can see Michael on all 3 days of the Cake Bake & Sweets Show on the Coles Bake & Decorate Theatre.
