Celebrity Pastry Chef Kaysie Lackey is a food artist and cake decorating instructor based in Seattle, Washington. As owner of The People’s Cake, her unique style and vivacious personality have won her international fame and recognition. Utilising her background in both fine arts and culinary arts, she combines art and fashion to create original and over-the-top designs for clients and competitions.
Now as spokesperson for Innovative Sugarworks she is helping to design and promote unique quality tools for the sugar art and pastry worlds. Kaysie has been featured in wedding and cake magazines including BRIDES, Martha Stewart Weddings, Modern Wedding Cakes, Seattle Bride, Seattle Metropolitan Bride and Groom, and American Cake Decorating.
She has won numerous international awards and is a frequent competitor on Food Network Challenge cake decorating competitions, such as Last Cake Standing, and has been featured on four different episodes, emerging victorious three times. More recently, The People’s Cake was chosen as one of BRIDES magazine’s top 100 Cake Decorators in the United States in 2013 and in 2014, Kaysie was named as one of Martha Stewart’s top 63 pastry professionals. In 2015 she was names one of Dessert Professional Magazine’s Top 10 Cake Decorators in North America and was featured in The Wall Street Journal’s “What’s in Her Bag”. Originally from Brentwood, Tennessee, she is known around the globe for her gravity-defying cakes and repeatedly demonstrates why she is a world leader in the art of cake sculpture. Kaysie teaches at cake decorating schools in the United Kingdom, United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Asia, South Africa, and throughout Europe. She is also a member of the Craftsy team of instructors.
